Cybersecurity firm Andesite secures $23m to launch AI-powered bionic SOC

Andesite AI, a cybersecurity firm specialising in AI-powered security operations, has announced the general availability of its bionic Security Operations Center (SOC).

The firm has also secured an additional $23m in the second tranche of its seed funding from General Catalyst and Red Cell Partners. This latest investment brings Andesite’s total funding to $38.25m.

Despite increasing global cybersecurity spending, security teams continue to face mounting challenges. Analysts often struggle to manage the overwhelming volume of alerts, while SOC leaders must justify growing costs. The rise of AI-driven cyber threats has further heightened concerns about whether existing teams can effectively counter emerging risks.

Andesite’s bionic SOC is designed to enhance collaboration between human analysts and AI, shifting security teams from reactive alert triage to proactive threat hunting. The platform connects disparate data sources, security tools, and platforms within an SOC ecosystem, providing analysts with the necessary context and visibility to make more informed decisions. By streamlining security operations, Andesite aims to enhance the efficiency of cyber defence teams while reducing response times.

The fresh capital will be used to accelerate Andesite’s product development and expand its market reach.

Andesite co-founder and CEO Brian Carbaugh, formerly the director of the CIA’s Special Activities Center, emphasised the platform’s value for human analysts. “At Andesite, we recognize that an organization’s competitive advantage lies in unleashing the full potential of its people.

“Security analysts are irreplaceable: their intuitive pattern recognition, creative thinking, and ability to turn insights into action are crucial. Our promise to them is clear: Your expertise will be amplified. You will be focused on what matters. Your potential will be unleashed.”

The platform offers several key features, including context-aware AI that integrates data across security silos, evidentiary AI that ensures transparency in AI-assisted decisions, adaptive automation to streamline workflows, and a secure AI architecture that keeps sensitive data within controlled boundaries.
