DNSFilter, a cybersecurity company specialising in AI-powered DNS-layer threat and content filtering, has acquired Zorus in a move aimed at enhancing protection across network and endpoint levels.
The acquisition aims to merge the strengths of both companies to create a more robust, comprehensive security solution tailored to the needs of MSPs. While the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, the strategic intent is clear: to deliver improved threat detection and user protection at every layer of an organisation’s infrastructure.
DNSFilter is known for its AI-based threat detection capabilities, offering security at the DNS level and operating a global network built for performance and resiliency. Zorus, on the other hand, has built its reputation on an MSP-first approach, delivering powerful endpoint-level security tools including full URL and IP address filtering, as well as advanced user behaviour analytics.
With this acquisition, DNSFilter will incorporate Zorus’ endpoint-first technologies, giving customers enhanced protection both on and off the network. Zorus’ features—such as pre-DNS query filtering from endpoints—complement DNSFilter’s existing network-level defences, offering more layered security for MSP clients.
Another key benefit lies in service resilience and availability. By combining infrastructure and technical expertise, DNSFilter and Zorus aim to create a more robust and reliable security service, ensuring business continuity for their clients. The deal also reaffirms DNSFilter’s roots in the MSP sector and doubles down on the companies’ joint commitment to supporting MSPs through ease of deployment and strong partner relationships.
The companies have stated that customers will benefit from a seamless and transparent transition, with no disruption to existing services. The goal is to maintain continuity while evolving the combined platform into a best-of-breed solution for threat intelligence and user protection.
DNSFilter CEO Ken Carnesi said, “This move brings together the best of both worlds: DNSFilter’s unmatched AI-driven threat intelligence and Zorus’ deep understanding of the MSP space. DNSFilter was born in the MSP world, and this acquisition reaffirms that commitment. Brett and his team bring serious talent and focus—they live and breathe MSP. They’re not just joining us; they’re helping lead the charge. Together, we’re building something that raises the bar for what MSPs should expect—and this is just the beginning.”
Zorus CEO Brett Cheloff said, “Joining forces with DNSFilter marks an exciting new chapter for Zorus and our MSP partners. We believe that combining our endpoint-first approach and user insights with DNSFilter’s robust network and threat intelligence is a natural fit for both organizations. As the saying goes, ‘If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.’ I look forward to working with Ken and the entire DNSFilter team to deliver a comprehensive security experience that empowers our shared MSP community to reach new heights.”
