Fourthline, a provider of AI-powered identity verification and compliance solutions, has promoted Fleur de Roos to chief operating officer (COO), effective immediately.
The company provides technology that helps firms confirm who their customers are and meet compliance requirements, using AI-driven identity verification tools designed for regulated financial services businesses operating across Europe.
In her new role, de Roos will take responsibility for Fourthline’s operational functions, spanning legal, compliance, risk management, HR and business operations, as the business scales its infrastructure to support ongoing expansion across European markets.
De Roos joined Fourthline in 2022 as general counsel and has since played a central role in its legal and operational development, helping the firm manage complex regulatory expectations while supporting strategic initiatives and strengthening governance frameworks as the company grew.
Her background includes qualifying in law at Utrecht University before starting her career at Clifford Chance, where she focused on corporate law and financial services. She later spent three years at Flow Traders, then moved into the public sector as a senior policy advisor at the Dutch Authority for Financial Markets (Autoriteit Financiële Markten), building regulatory experience that later fed into her work advising FinTech businesses.
Before joining Fourthline, she was a partner at boutique firm Legalloyd, where she built the law firm on top of the legal tech company, and advised on M&A, corporate governance and regulatory matters—experience Fourthline is now drawing on as it broadens her remit beyond traditional legal leadership into end-to-end operations.
Fourthline CEO and co-founder Krik Gunning said, “Fleur has proven herself to be far more than an exceptional legal mind. She’s a strategic leader who is able to lead on key business decisions,” he added, “Her promotion to COO reflects her expanded impact across our organization and our confidence in her ability to scale our operations as we continue our growth trajectory across Europe.”
Fourthline COO Fleur de Roos said, “I’m excited to take on the role of Chief Operating Officer at this pivotal moment for Fourthline,” she added, “My goal has always been to help drive long-term growth and innovation. I look forward to working with our talented teams to further expand the operational foundations that will enable Fourthline to thrive in its next phase of growth while serving our business partners with the highest industry standards .”
