RegEd founder joins MCO as president amid $100m+ push

MCO (MyComplianceOffice), a provider of compliance management software for financial services, has named John Schobel as president.

He takes on the role as the company looks to turn fresh capital and rising revenue into its next stage of expansion.

The hire comes shortly after MCO secured more than $100m in strategic growth financing from Accel-KKR Credit Partners. That capital is earmarked for further expansion and for continued development of the company’s product suite for financial institutions.

Schobel arrives with more than 25 years of experience as co-founder and CEO of RegEd, which he built from an early-stage venture. At RegEd, he oversaw the rollout of new offerings that reshaped parts of the market and led product development for a base of enterprise clients.

As president, Schobel will work alongside founder and CEO Brian Fahey to steer MCO’s ongoing investment and growth strategy.

MCO builds compliance technology designed to help financial services firms bring their compliance operations onto a single platform and apply AI to that work. The business now supports over 1,500 client firms in more than 125 countries. Between 2024 and 2025, revenue climbed 22%, and more than 100 new firms joined its client roster.

Product development has been active over the past year. MCO introduced a digital asset personal trading tool aimed at the growing risk of conflicts of interest, alongside upgraded AI-driven functionality. The company expects the new financing to speed up this work and give its international customers deeper compliance insight and greater efficiency.

Schobel said, “Compliance technology is radically changing and it’s a pivotal time to be a part of it. Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to partner with the industry to create advanced automation to address the most difficult compliance problems. Helping to lead MCO to the next level of its success is the perfect challenge for me: MCO has an incredibly broad set of solutions, and the vision and technical capability to deliver them to a global enterprise client base.”

He added, “The roadmap is impressive and I’m excited to join MCO as its platform and use of emerging technologies offer a truly powerful combination. What Brian and his team have built is uniquely positioned to help financial firms meet today’s compliance challenges.”

MCO CEO Brian Fahey added, “A true RegTech pioneer, John is one of the industry’s foremost innovators and most accomplished executives. His deep roots in the compliance industry and his proven ability to lead talented teams, create transformation, and drive growth make him an ideal fit for MCO. John’s values and commitment to the customer experience align with ours, and he will strengthen every aspect of our business.”

Fahey continued, “His experience in software leadership—from startup to enterprise provider—will allow us to build on our momentum and continue advancing our solutions. Agreeing to join us is a huge vote of confidence, and I couldn’t be more excited to work with someone of his caliber.”
