With the second half of 2025 under way, regulatory fees and procedural shifts in the UK are taking centre stage for fund managers navigating cross-border distribution.
Beyond understanding complex legal frameworks, firms are reminded that keeping on top of compliance costs is equally critical in planning and budgeting strategies.
Zeidler Group, which is helping to reshape investment funds law, recently delved into the challenges of H2 for compliance.
The UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has introduced new updates impacting both UCITS and Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) registrations. These revisions are already integrated into Zeidler’s Global Knowledge Hub (GKH), giving users instant access to reliable, jurisdiction-specific data on regulatory obligations.
From 1 July 2025, fee changes have come into effect for UCITS funds under the Overseas Fund Regime (OFR). The application fee for umbrella funds has risen from £5,440 to £5,580, while standalone UCITS applications increased from £2,720 to £2,790. Annual fees have also been adjusted, now ranging from £40 to £880 depending on the number of sub-funds. Previously, the range stood at £80 to £1,760.
For managers distributing AIFs under the National Private Placement Regime (NPPR), the FCA has also revised its charges. Application fees are set at £280 per AIF, with annual fees increasing to £407.
The changes highlight the continued focus on cost transparency and regulatory agility as fund distribution becomes increasingly complex. For asset managers, accounting for these fee adjustments will be vital to avoid budgetary surprises and to maintain smooth operations across markets.
The Global Knowledge Hub (GKH) has already been updated to reflect the FCA’s revised framework, ensuring clients can access the latest regulatory intelligence in real time. Covering both UCITS and AIF pathways in the UK, the platform provides legal and compliance teams with a streamlined view of registration fees, procedural updates, and jurisdiction-specific obligations.
Beyond fees, GKH offers in-depth insights into pre-marketing and marketing regimes, compliance requirements, and annual or event-driven responsibilities. With coverage spanning more than 80 jurisdictions, the platform delivers a unified view of global distribution requirements.
