Unit21, an AI risk infrastructure platform focused on fraud prevention and AML monitoring, has joined forces with blockchain intelligence firm TRM Labs to let compliance teams tackle digital asset and fiat risk within one system.
The tie-up embeds TRM’s intelligence into Unit21 through two channels. Alerts generated by TRM Transaction Monitoring now land in Unit21 for investigation and regulatory reporting, while data from TRM Wallet Screening powers Unit21’s self-service rules engine. Shared customers gain the ability to spot, probe and respond to on-chain threats in the same environment they use for traditional currency cases.
The move addresses a longstanding pain point for crypto and FinTech compliance functions, which have typically connected these capabilities through fragile, home-built data pipelines. Under the new arrangement, TRM’s risk attribution, crypto alerts, entity associations and screening outputs are written directly onto the records investigators already use, ready to serve as detection rule inputs or investigation context.
Both customer bases stand to benefit. TRM users gain access to an AI-native platform that consolidates detection, case handling and regulatory filing, removing the need to stitch separate tools together. Unit21’s crypto and FinTech clients, meanwhile, receive wallet screening results and risk scores as rule conditions and investigative context without building custom infrastructure, and crypto alerts join fiat cases in a single unified queue.
Technically, the integration enriches wallet and instrument data via TRM’s wallet screening API at the point of monitoring, capturing fields such as risk level, risk indicators and categories, transaction volume and entity associations. The firms said real-time wallet screening on transactions is planned next, following the launch of post-transaction wallet monitoring.
Unit21 provides AI risk infrastructure for fraud prevention and AML monitoring, and counts leading crypto businesses including Crypto.com, Circle, Nexo, Coinlist and BitGo among its clients. TRM Labs operates a blockchain intelligence platform.
The two companies will mark the launch with a party on 30 July at LondonHouse in Chicago.
Unit21 chief product officer Kunal Datta said, “Financial crime doesn’t respect payment rails. The infrastructure built to stop it shouldn’t either. Compliance teams working crypto risk in one system and fiat in another have a gap—and gaps are where real activity gets missed. This integration makes TRM’s blockchain intelligence native to Unit21’s AI Agents, rules, and investigation workflows, so the system can work the full picture end-to-end: from the first on-chain signal to the filed report.”
TRM Labs VP of product Adam Williams said, “Unit21’s customers are on the front lines of keeping the financial system safe. We’re proud to support them with defensible attribution on over 3.1 billion addresses across granular risk categories, giving their teams the on-chain insights to confidently identify and act on crypto risk.”
