Hopae Connect unlocks 280m identities across Southeast Asia

Southeast Asia’s digital economy is accelerating, and identity verification infrastructure is struggling to keep pace with it. Hopae Connect is addressing that gap by extending its platform to support two of the region’s largest national identity rails: the Philippines National ID and Indonesia’s Nomor Induk Kependudukan (NIK).

The move gives Hopae Connect customers instant verification access to more than 280m identities across the two most populous markets in Southeast Asia, all through a single integration.

The Philippines National ID, held by more than 90m people, is the country’s foundational identity credential, used across both public and private sectors. Hopae Connect now supports verification across physical cards, paper IDs, and digital formats.

The system works by scanning the ID’s official QR code, extracting and verifying the holder’s authoritative personal data while confirming card authenticity, removing the need for manual document checks.

Indonesia’s NIK, which underpins banking, employment, and government services for more than 190m individuals, has also been added to the platform, alongside biometric matching for a higher level of assurance.

Hopae Connect validates core attributes, including name, date of birth, and NIK number, against official government records. That data check is then paired with a selfie-to-reference facial match, upgrading the process from basic attribute validation to full biometric identity binding, an approach designed to reduce fraud and impersonation risk.

Hopae Connect frames its single, standardised API as a way to remove that overhead, unlocking 280m+ new identities across the Philippines and Indonesia with no added friction for existing integrations.
