Comp AI’s $34m bet on real-time compliance

Comp AI, the AI-native compliance and security platform, has closed a $34m Series A round led by Roo Capital and Grand Ventures, positioning the young company to push beyond audit automation and into continuous cybersecurity.

The raise arrives less than two years after Comp AI’s founding in January 2025, a period in which the business says it has grown annual recurring revenue fifteenfold year-on-year while building a customer roster of more than 1,000 organisations. That trajectory has convinced backers that agentic AI, rather than conventional software, can finally close the gap between point-in-time compliance checks and the ongoing reality of managing cyber risk.

Compliance technology’s first wave digitised what had been a manual, consultant-heavy exercise built on spreadsheets, but much of the underlying labour still sat with people, leaving firms with only periodic snapshots of their security posture.

Comp AI argues that agentic AI removes that constraint by letting software carry out and verify work that once demanded constant human oversight, a shift the company intends to exploit with the fresh capital by extending from compliance automation into real-time monitoring, control validation and security testing across applications and infrastructure.

At the core of the platform is a set of AI agents that draw on organisational context to automate onboarding, generate policies and risk assessments, gather evidence, monitor controls and run vendor assessments.

Comp AI says this lets software businesses reach compliance in days instead of quarters, without loosening the rigour regulators and enterprise buyers expect. Its client base spans healthcare, financial services, higher education, professional services and software, and includes companies such as Corgi, Dub, OpenCode, Inference and Primer.

The company frames the moment as an inflection point for the wider security software market. As AI speeds up both the pace at which companies ship code and the sophistication of threats against it, security environments are changing faster than traditional, point-in-time assessments can track, pushing the case for tools that behave in an adaptive and near-instant way rather than checking in periodically.

Comp AI intends to put the new funding towards deepening its product and engineering work, broadening its continuous cybersecurity capabilities, and growing its team across its Miami headquarters and New York office. Having expanded tenfold year-on-year already, the company plans to hire across product, engineering, operations, sales, customer success and marketing as it takes on larger, more complex customers.

The gravitational pull they have received from the market shows us that customers have felt the pain and see the need for a platform like this one. Comp AI is exactly the type of company we are building Roo to back, and we believe it has a real opportunity to define this category. As company builders ourselves, we are excited to lead this investment and put Roo’s differentiated Capital + Talent + Growth model to work alongside the team as they scale.”

Comp AI CEO and co-founder Lewis Carhart said, “The first generation of compliance software proved this process could be automated. Agentic AI lets us go much further. Security software shouldn’t just track the work. It should understand the business, perform the work, and act as risk changes. We started by making compliance dramatically faster and less resource-intensive. Now we’re building toward a platform to proactively identify, validate, and act on risk in real time.”

Comp AI COO and co-founder Claudio Fuentes added, “Historically, compliance has been an approximation of security because so much of the work could only be performed manually and periodically. Agentic AI changes that constraint. Work that once required teams of people can increasingly happen continuously in software. At the same time, AI is making the threat landscape faster and more dynamic. We believe the next generation of security companies will be built around that reality from day one.”

Comp AI CTO and co-founder Mariano Fuentes said, “AI changes both what software can do and how quickly technical teams can build it. As models become more capable, we can move beyond software that simply records whether security work happened toward software that can execute and verify that work.”
