Sage is deepening its collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to bring powerful AI solutions to small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs), aiming to simplify accounting, automate compliance tasks, and improve financial confidence.
The partnership centres around the use of AWS’s advanced infrastructure, including Amazon Bedrock and custom-designed AI chips like AWS Trainium and AWS Inferentia. These technologies are enabling Sage to speed up the development and deployment of AI models tailored specifically to the complex requirements of accounting and compliance. With this robust foundation, Sage can rapidly prototype and scale tools that deliver both accuracy and efficiency in financial processes.
Over the past year, Sage has successfully integrated purpose-built Large Language Models (LLMs) and Small Language Models (SLMs) into its platform. These tools now underpin key features of Sage Copilot, the company’s AI-driven digital assistant, which is currently available in the UK, US, France, Spain, and Germany across products such as Sage Accounting, Sage for Accountants, Sage 50, and Sage Intacct.
Recent improvements to Sage Copilot include the Accounting Filtering Model, which ensures AI responses remain focused solely on finance and compliance topics—minimising risk from irrelevant or inaccurate answers. Additionally, enhanced endpoint detection models refine how user intent is interpreted, enabling the system to deliver targeted, context-aware responses.
Sage EVP of cloud services and operations Amaya Souarez said, “Our collaboration with AWS enables us to develop and scale AI solutions that directly address the challenges SMBs face.
“By combining Sage’s deep accounting expertise with the powerful AI infrastructure of AWS, we are creating technology that is not just intelligent, but also trusted and practical for finance. These advancements make financial decision-making smarter, more intuitive, and more efficient, helping SMBs reduce time spent on financial admin, gain greater visibility into their finances, and focus on growing their business.”
The partnership has also yielded advancements in AI-powered search capabilities. Sage has introduced a new Semantic Search API built using Amazon Bedrock, enhancing how SMBs access and analyse their financial data.
