Sumsub meets EU’s top digital identity standard

Sumsub

Sumsub, a global full-cycle verification platform, has reconfirmed its eIDAS 2.0 certification at the High Level of Confidence for identity and business verification, meeting the EU’s most stringent standard for digital identity assurance.

The recertification, issued by SRC Zert GmbH & Co. KG, validates four of Sumsub’s core modules: Auto Identification, Video Identification, e-ID Verification and KYB Verification. Each has been confirmed as meeting the requirements of the eIDAS 2.0 framework for verifying both natural and legal persons, specifically in line with the ETSI TS 119 461 V2.1.1 (2025-02) standard.

Sumsub also secured certification for its Fully Automated module, which verifies individuals by reading Electronic Machine-Readable Travel Documents without any manual review from an agent.

The scope of the certification means regulated organisations can access a single platform covering both individual and business verification at the highest tier of the eIDAS 2.0 framework. For those subject to AML obligations, it provides a compliant pathway to onboarding across Europe by combining identity verification with Qualified Electronic Signature journeys.

Sumsub’s platform brings together identity verification, business verification, AML checks, fraud prevention, orchestration and case management in a single environment. The company serves regulated businesses looking to fulfil compliance requirements without introducing additional friction into their customer journeys.

The recertification comes as European regulators respond to the growing availability of sophisticated fraud tools by raising the bar for digital identity verification, pushing businesses to adopt solutions that can satisfy compliance demands without disrupting user experience.

Sumsub chief product officer Andrew Novoselsky said, “Regulated businesses in Europe need certainty that their verification processes will hold up to scrutiny. Reconfirming eIDAS 2.0 Level of Confidence High certification gives regulated businesses greater confidence that they can verify individuals and businesses to eIDAS 2.0’s highest assurance level, without adding unnecessary friction to the user journey.”
