Ctrl Alt secures Irish approval for regulated digital assets

Ctrl Alt, a tokenisation infrastructure provider focused on digital capital markets, has secured MiFID authorisation from the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI), strengthening its regulatory framework as it expands operations across Ireland and the wider European Economic Area (EEA).

The authorisation allows Ctrl Alt to provide regulated investment services and securities activities in Ireland, with passporting rights extending across the EEA. The approval provides Ctrl Alt with the regulatory foundation to support institutions, asset managers and capital allocators developing tokenised financial products within established financial services frameworks.

The licence adds to Ctrl Alt’s expanding regulatory footprint across key financial markets. The company secured direct authorisation from the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) earlier in 2026 and holds a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) licence from Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA), where it became the first company to receive both an Issuer licence and a Broker-Dealer licence.

The approval highlights the growing focus among regulators on creating oversight frameworks for digital assets and tokenised securities. The Central Bank of Ireland has previously identified tokenisation and distributed ledger technology (DLT) as areas of interest for the future development of financial markets, as regulators assess how emerging technologies can be integrated while maintaining investor protection, transparency and compliance standards.

Ctrl Alt said it has tokenised more than $1.5bn in assets as of July 2026, supporting financial institutions exploring blockchain-based approaches to improve efficiency, accessibility and transparency across private markets. The company said its experience working with regulators and market participants positions it to contribute to the development of compliant tokenised asset markets.

Ctrl Alt founder and group CEO Matt Ong said, “Ireland and the wider European Union are central to our plans for tokenization. We have a long-standing presence here, with a significant proportion of our team based in Ireland, and we see real momentum building across the market. The funds industry in particular is moving towards tokenization, and this authorisation positions us to support that shift as it develops across Ireland and the EEA.”

Ctrl Alt CEO, Ireland Jordan McMullen added, “With authorisations now held in Ireland, the UK, and the UAE, our regulatory position is one of the strongest in the market. The Irish authorisation also opens the EEA to us, and each licence assures clients that our activity is conducted under established supervision wherever they engage with us, strengthening our standing as we scale across Europe.”
