Harmonic Security, a security platform built to govern how employees use AI, has closed a $50m Series B as enterprises struggle to balance AI productivity against data exposure.
Crosspoint Capital Partners led the round, with backing from existing investors. The investment lifts the company’s total capital raised to $76m and is earmarked to speed up its expansion.
Harmonic currently safeguards AI usage for millions of staff across more than 100 organisations, a customer base that includes several of the world’s biggest enterprises. The firm has also struck fresh distribution agreements with Climb and Distology. Its headcount now exceeds 90 across the US and the UK, and the new funds will be directed towards growing its engineering and go-to-market teams in both countries.
Over the last year, the company has pushed its coverage past browser-based AI monitoring to include desktop AI applications and agentic workflows, all managed within one platform. This broader reach targets the blind spots where problems such as personal-account usage and leaks of sensitive data typically originate.
Harmonic describes itself as the only platform able to classify each AI task, identify the reason behind it and govern it in real time. Its differentiator is the context it captures around every AI interaction, allowing customers to label each task, track new use cases as they surface and apply light-touch controls to staff.
This capability rests on custom small language models that interpret each interaction within milliseconds, distinguishing, for instance, a developer citing a database schema from an employee pasting live credentials.
The same technology drives Harmonic’s Usage Intelligence layer, which reveals to leaders which AI use cases deliver value, which employees have discovered more efficient ways of working, and where future investment should go rather than where restrictions should be tightened.
The company has also widened its footprint through platforms enterprises already depend on. Harmonic features among the ecosystem integrations for the new Agent Builder within Cisco Cloud Control, unveiled at Cisco Live, linking via Model Context Protocol.
In addition, it has developed an integration with Claude’s Compliance API, giving security teams sight of Claude Platform activity logs, along with conversation content for Claude Enterprise customers, across deployments hosted by Anthropic.
Harmonic Security CEO and co-founder Alastair Paterson said, “Every board I talk to is asking two questions: how do we reduce the risk of AI use, and are we getting value? Most vendors struggle to answer the first, yet we address both. From the very start, we doubled-down on our custom small language models, which means we can benefit from a unique insight into enterprise AI use.”
Paterson added, “We’ve got some real momentum, and I know we’re just getting started. This round means we get to build that out faster and continue rapidly responding to the AI landscape shifts.”
