Cardamon, an AI-driven compliance company from the Y Combinator W25 cohort, has struck a partnership with Trading 212 to automate regulatory compliance across the platform’s many products, markets and jurisdictions.
Under the arrangement, Cardamon’s technology has been integrated into the tools Trading 212 staff already rely on, including Slack and Jira. Its AI agents flag regulatory developments that matter to the business, evaluate the effect those developments are likely to have, and route them to the people responsible for acting on them.
The aim is to support the compliance function without layering additional systems or procedures on top of existing operations.
Early results appear encouraging. According to Cardamon, Trading 212 saw a marked drop in the time devoted to some of its regulatory monitoring and mapping tasks within the opening weeks of the collaboration.
The deal reflects a broader pressure facing financial services firms. As businesses push into fresh markets and roll out new offerings, the regulatory obligations attached to them multiply. Compliance departments must keep up, yet legacy processes and platforms were often not built to cope with that pace of expansion.
Cardamon builds AI agents designed to help financial services organisations handle regulatory compliance. Its software tracks regulatory change, gauges its relevance and impact, and slots into established workflows rather than replacing them.
Trading 212 now sits alongside Nubank and other Tier 1 enterprises among Cardamon’s customers, capping what the company describes as a busy few months.
Trading 212 group regulatory and policy lead Alexandra Meres said, “Trading 212 has grown rapidly, both in scale and in the range of products and markets we serve. That growth brings greater regulatory responsibility and complexity. What’s particularly valuable about Cardamon is that it helps us manage this complexity by fitting directly into the systems and workflows our teams already use.
“We’re not having to build new processes around another piece of technology. Instead, we’re making our existing operations more efficient and giving our teams the tools they need to stay on top of regulatory change as the business continues to grow.”
