Aveni’s Detect upgrade ends compliance blind spots

Aveni has rolled out a major upgrade to Detect, its compliance monitoring and outcome testing platform, giving banks and financial services firms the ability to assess entire customer cases rather than reviewing each interaction on its own.

The update means calls, emails, webchat exchanges, SMS messages and supporting documents linked to a single customer case can now be pulled together and reviewed within one AI-powered workflow.

Compliance teams gain a fuller view of how a case unfolded across every touchpoint, making it easier to see whether concerns were flagged and what action followed, a capability Aveni positions as central to meeting Consumer Duty obligations.

Conventional compliance monitoring has long depended on manual sampling, typically covering only 5 to 10% of interactions, and reviews often happen well after the event.

Detect’s enhanced version instead offers 100% coverage immediately after a conversation takes place, meaning every case and channel is assessed automatically and without delay. Aveni argues this materially cuts the chances of conduct failures or regulatory breaches going unnoticed until they escalate.

Detect now provides full-population risk monitoring paired with a verifiable case-level audit trail, alongside automated triage that Aveni says can reduce outcome testing time by up to six times without requiring additional staff.

Population-level trend data is also generated, intended to help firms intervene proactively rather than react after problems surface. Assessments can be configured for a range of compliance priorities, including complaints handling, vulnerability, Consumer Duty, Treating Customers Fairly, collections conduct and product-specific rules, giving firms flexibility in where they apply case-level oversight.

Powering the platform is FinLLM, Aveni’s suite of AI models built specifically for financial services. The company describes FinLLM as the UK’s first large language model suite purpose-built for regulated financial environments, distinguishing it from generic models adapted for compliance purposes.

Aveni says this grounding allows Detect to deliver more accurate and contextually relevant assessments across conversations, documents and customer cases, particularly for Consumer Duty oversight, vulnerability detection and outcome assessment. The proprietary model also brings a cost advantage, with Aveni estimating that assessing complex compliance cases through Detect costs around 25 times less than relying on larger hyperscaler models.

The enhanced Detect capability has been trialled with a number of customers throughout 2026 and is now available to new customers.

“Customer outcomes can’t always be understood from a single call or document,” Aveni chief commercial officer Kent Mackenzie said. “A concern raised in one interaction may only become significant when it’s considered alongside an email, a later conversation or the final action taken by the firm.”

“Detect brings that information together so compliance teams can understand the complete customer journey, identify the cases that need attention and produce clear evidence of how customers have been treated. It moves compliance monitoring from reviewing isolated moments to assessing real outcomes.”
