Zeidler Group has provided a bespoke training session on the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) to the senior management of a mid-sized investment firm based in the European Union.
The training was led by Zeidler Group’s Elisa Forletta and Tara Dutta, who guided the firm’s leadership team through the regulation’s practical obligations.
The Digital Operational Resilience Act, formally known as Regulation (EU) 2022/2554, came into effect on 17 January 2025. Under the new framework, senior management bears ultimate responsibility for the oversight and management of ICT risk, as well as ensuring that their organisation remains compliant with EU-wide operational resilience standards.
A key focus of the session was management’s obligation to maintain sufficient knowledge and skills to evaluate ICT risks and assess their impact on operations. Executives were also reminded that regular training is required, and should be proportionate to the firm’s ICT risk exposure, to ensure that decision-making remains effective and regulatory expectations are met.
The training provided an overview of the DORA framework and explained its scope of application. It included a detailed review of senior management’s responsibilities under the regulation and offered guidance on how firms can embed these requirements within their governance structures, policies, and operational strategies.
Delivered in an interactive style, the session allowed executives to discuss firm-specific concerns and real-world scenarios, ensuring the training was both relevant and actionable.
DORA introduces a harmonised framework across the European Union, designed to strengthen the digital resilience of the financial sector. With regulators stepping up scrutiny, senior leaders are under increasing pressure to fully understand their obligations and ensure that oversight mechanisms are properly implemented to mitigate ICT risks and guarantee compliance.
